Bunions and Hammer toes
It is a common miss conception that Bunions and other toe deformities are caused by badly fitting footwear.
“Bad shoes do not make bad feet, but they do make bad feet worse”.
Very many feet have structural weaknesses (biomechanical problems) which are genetic, and result in the development of various joint deformities that can become worse with time.
Surgery, targeted at the deformities, often without any attention being given to the underlying biomechanical problems, can give a less than satisfactory outcome.
Biomechanical problems in our feet require careful investigation, as they often lead to problems in other parts of our body such as Knees, Hips, and / or back. The can normally be managed very successfully by having “Custom made Orthoses” fitted.
